Bharatiya Janata Party proposed the name of Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind as their candidate for the upcoming Presidential election. Seventy-year-old Kovind is a Dalit leader from Kanpur. The party’s parliamentary board met on Monday to discuss the names for the election. Amit Shah said that Narendra Modi has conveyed the decision to Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. He also said that Kovind has always fought for Dalit rights.
